Product description
An original etching by the Dutch artist Lucebert, whose full name is Lubertus Jacobus Swaanswijk. This work is a characteristic example of his expressionistic style, which is closely linked to the CoBrA movement and the literary group De Vijftigers.
The artwork is a monochrome composition on paper, executed in black ink. The abstract and figurative elements merge, which is typical of Lucebert's oeuvre. The work is professionally framed with a cream-colored passe-partout and anti-reflective glass, set in a dark brown, structured frame that complements the character of the etching.
According to a handwritten note on the back, this work has a special provenance. It is said to have come from the estate of Ton Stevens and before that was in the possession of Freddy Rutgers, the ex-wife of De Vijftigers, Remco Campert, Gerrit Kouwenaar, and Jan G. Elburg. This provenance directly connects the piece with the cultural avant-garde of post-war Netherlands.
This framed Art is a powerful statement in various interior styles, from modern to eclectic. It adds a piece of Dutch art history to a living room, study, or office and fits well into a collection of post-war European Art.
