About this seller
Private sellerProduct description
This antique wooden blanket chest dates from the year 1797, an authentic piece of traditional craftsmanship from the late eighteenth century. The furniture piece stands out due to its robust construction and the detailed, historical character that immediately draws attention.
The chest is made of solid wood and features richly decorated panels with floral and geometric motifs. The wood carving shows graceful scrolls, leaf motifs, and the inscription 'ANNO 1797'. The chest is equipped with heavy metal keyhole fittings in the shape of a heart and sturdy metal handles on the sides. The natural brown color of the wood emphasizes the authentic appearance of the material.
The blanket chest is in a condition appropriate for its considerable age, with a rich patina and a lived-in surface that testifies to centuries of use. The construction is solid, and the chest still offers ample storage possibilities.
This historical piece of furniture comes into its own in a classic or rustic interior. It can serve as functional storage at the foot of a bed, or as a characterful statement piece in a hallway or living room.
