About this seller
Private sellerProduct description
This is the iconic model 4053 armchair, designed by Toon de Wit for the Dutch manufacturer Gispen and part of the Dutch Originals production in the late nineties. The chair is a beautiful example of Dutch Design, known for its functionality and clean lines. The sled base and the combination of materials make it a timeless and recognizable piece of furniture. The armchair has a chrome-plated tubular metal frame that provides slight suspension and a modern appearance. The seat and backrest are upholstered with a warm, brown period-correct corduroy fabric that forms a beautiful contrast with the shiny chrome. The black armrests, made of plastic, complete the design and offer extra comfort. As the photos show, this chair is in good vintage condition and retains its original character. The combination of the industrial frame and the soft upholstery makes the armchair versatile. It fits perfectly as a comfortable reading chair in a living room, as a stylish addition to a study, or as a striking accent in a bedroom.
