About this seller
Private sellerProduct description
This is a modular sofa element by the Swiss manufacturer De Sede, designed by Ubald Klug. The piece is an iconic example of 1970s design, known as model DS-1025 or "Terrazza". Ubald Klug's 1972 design is inspired by terraced landscapes, which is reflected in the sofa's stepped, flowing silhouette. This element is fully upholstered in high-quality black leather, emphasizing its organic form. The modular nature of the Terrazza system allows for various configurations, making it adaptable to different spatial requirements. The overall condition of this vintage element is good, reflecting its age and history. The leather has developed a characteristic patina and natural creasing, contributing to its authentic appeal. The structure is solid, and the upholstery retains its shape and comfort. As a sculptural statement piece, this Terrazza element seamlessly integrates into modern, eclectic, or mid-century inspired interiors. It can be used as a standalone armchair or as part of a larger seating landscape, offering both a visually impressive presence and an inviting place to relax.
The Terrazza still has its original leather upholstery, which has been professionally repaired once in the seat area. This is clearly visible in the photos.
It comes from prominent previous ownership, specifically from the home of the artist couple Karin Szekessy and Paul Wunderlich in Hamburg, who acquired the sofa around 1973.
I could not find a product designation on the sofa.
