For sale here is a chest/jewelry box/lidded box, Germany, circa 1930. The design is reminiscent of designs by Marianne Brandt for Ruppelwerke (Ruppel) Gotha.
Marianne Brandt (born October 1, 1893, in Chemnitz and died June 18, 1983, in Kirchberg) was a German designer, photographer, painter, and sculptor. She worked as a designer in a metal workshop and is one of the lesser-known female Bauhaus artists. Marianne Brandt designed many utilitarian objects for Ruppelwerke. It has a reduced, rectangular chrome body on four pliable feet, lined with cedar wood on the inside, and a hinged lid with diagonally waved decoration and black lacquer (geometric Art Deco decoration). It is in appropriate condition for its age, with signs of age and wear (some minor paint defects, scratches, wear, some light residue, traces of oxidation, and occasional slight deformations). See also the photos. These form part of the object description).
