About this seller
Private sellerProduct description
This is an authentic antique bride's chest, crafted in 1875. The piece is made of solid wood and is a beautiful example of traditional folk art furniture, characterized by its rich, hand-painted decorations. The chest is entirely made of wood and stands on four sturdy legs. The surface is adorned with detailed, colorful floral motifs in shades of orange, green, and red, set within painted arches. The original metal fittings, including the keyhole and side handles, are still present. A practical drawer at the bottom offers additional storage space, enhancing the functionality of this historic piece of furniture. The overall condition is consistent with its age of nearly 150 years. The chest has a deep and lived-in patina, with wear and fading of the paint contributing to its unique character and historical appeal. The construction is solid and testifies to the craftsmanship of that period. This bride's chest is a striking and versatile piece of furniture. It can serve as a unique storage chest in a bedroom, as a characterful console in a hallway, or as a decorative element in an interior with a rustic, Bohemian, or eclectic style.
