Product description
Estimated value: €900 – €1,400. Fire-gilded bronze Buddha head from Nepal, crafted in the 18th–19th century. The head is hollow-cast and shows clear remnants of original mercury gilding, visible as a porous gold structure on the hair curls and in protected areas. The underlying patina consists of stably developed copper oxides, indicating long-term natural aging and precluding modern surface treatment. Microscopic observations confirm that the gold was applied before complete oxidation, consistent with pre-industrial fire-gilding technique. The compact size, serene facial expression, urna, and traditional hair structure place this object within the Nepalese Buddhist sculptural tradition. Authentic old devotional object, not a decorative souvenir.
