Bamboo mirror 52*65 cm.
Antique mirror with a turned wooden frame imitating bamboo (faux-bamboo), featuring sculpted knots and bevelled ends reminiscent of cut stems.
This style, very popular in France at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century under the influence of a taste for exoticism and chinoiseries, can be found in bedroom furniture (beds, bedside tables, towel racks) as well as in mirrors and frames, made from native wood (often beech or walnut) turned and stained to imitate natural bamboo.
The mirror has a warm patina and a lovely curve to the uprights, making it a decorative yet functional piece to hang in an entrance, a bedroom, or a bathroom for a vintage and travel-inspired touch.
