Product description
This is an antique mantel clock, executed in a lavish Rococo style. The piece combines a richly decorated metal frame with a solid marble base, resulting in an object of significant decorative value. The clock is a prime example of the refined aesthetic characteristic of the Rococo period, with its elegant and asymmetrical forms.
The construction consists of a brass or bronze-colored frame, adorned with exuberant scrolls, floral motifs, and rocaille elements. The dial features Roman numerals and a painted landscape scene, protected by glass. Below the dial is a porcelain or enameled panel with a gallant depiction. The whole rests on a shaped base of beige and brown mottled marble, ensuring a stable and luxurious presentation.
The overall condition of the clock is good, in accordance with its age. The metalwork shows an authentic patina that contributes to the historical character and charm of the object. The painted scenes are still clear and detailed, emphasizing the artistic quality of the piece. Unfortunately, the bell spring is no longer good and needs replacement/repair.
