Product description
This is an antique folding chair, crafted from dark wood and richly decorated with inlay work. The design is characteristic of traditional craftsmanship from the Middle East, often associated with Syrian furniture art.
The chair is entirely made of solid wood, with a deep brown finish that accentuates the complex, hand-carved floral and geometric motifs. Small pieces of mother-of-pearl are inlaid over the entire surface, including the seat and the high, shaped backrest, catching the light. The construction is based on a scissor-like 'X'-frame, allowing the chair to be easily folded for storage.
The chair is in good, antique condition, consistent with its age and history. The wood shows an authentic patina that contributes to the character of the furniture. The overall construction is solid and the decorative inlay work is largely intact, testifying to the quality of the original craftsmanship.
As a standalone object, this chair adds an exotic and refined element to various interior styles, such as Bohemian, eclectic, or classic. It is an ideal decorative accent in a living room, hallway, or bedroom.
