Product description
This is an original drawing by the Belgian artist Amédée Ernest Lynen (1852-1938). The work, made on paper, shows an atmospheric view through a gate. The drawing is a characteristic example of Lynen's talent for capturing everyday life and the architecture of his time.
The composition is executed in charcoal and colored pencil, a technique the artist used to create both depth and subtle color accents. The work is signed and dated 'Am. Lynen 98.' in the lower right, placing its creation in the year 1898. The drawing is framed in a wooden frame with a gold-colored inner edge and a passe-partout that protects and accentuates the work.
The Art is in good condition, consistent with its age. The paper has developed a natural patina that contributes to the authentic character of the drawing. The frame is also older and forms a fitting setting for this fin de siècle piece.
This drawing is a refined addition to an interior with a classic or eclectic decor. The work comes into its own in a study, hallway, or as part of an Art collection on the wall.
