About this seller
Private sellerProduct description
This set of six armchairs was designed by American designer Frederick Weinberg, an iconic figure in mid-century design. These pieces perfectly illustrate his sculptural approach and his distinctive use of mixed materials, combining industrial metal with woven natural elements. The elegant and airy silhouette of these armchairs makes them a classic example of 1950s American design.
Each armchair is built on a black lacquered iron frame, offering both visual lightness and solidity. The seat and backrest are meticulously woven from rattan, creating a comfortable and textured support surface. Small brass details, such as the spherical finials at the top of the backrest, add a touch of refinement and contrast to the design. This combination of materials was a Weinberg signature, who sought to create functional furniture with a strong artistic presence.
The set is presented in good overall condition, reflecting careful use over the decades. The rattan and metal structure retain their original integrity, with a patina that adds character and authenticity to each piece. These armchairs have not undergone major restorations, thus preserving their authentic vintage condition.
Ideal as dining chairs or as accent armchairs in a living room, they blend harmoniously into Mid-Century Modern, eclectic, or even bohemian style interiors. Their timeless design allows them to be easily paired with contemporary or vintage furniture pieces. One armchair has a break (see photo)
