6 earthenware plates, Grigny — "Muguet" model
This set of six flat plates in fine earthenware illustrates the naturalistic decorative style cherished by French manufacturers at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century. The Muguet model, printed in blue monochrome on an ivory background, is distinguished by its delicate branches of bell-shaped flowers forming an asymmetrical crown at the centre of the plate, framed by a continuous frieze of small stylised flowers running around the entire rim.
Made by the Grigny pottery, known for its production of utilitarian and decorative tableware widely distributed in French households, this series is today appealing for its rustic and timeless charm, perfectly in tune with the current enthusiasm for "country chic" style and tables mixing mismatched antique pieces. Diameter 22.8 cm / In good condition with normal signs of use and age.
