This is a set of two authentic Eames Plastic Armchairs, model DAR, produced by Vitra. Designed by the seminal American duo Charles and Ray Eames in 1950, this chair was the first industrially manufactured plastic chair and remains a landmark of mid-century design. The DAR (Dining Armchair Rod Base) is distinguished by its iconic 'Eiffel Tower' base, a complex and graceful structure made from steel wire. The chairs feature an organically shaped seat shell made from durable, dyed-through polypropylene in a versatile black finish. This shell is mounted on the intricate four-legged base constructed from chromed steel wire. The combination of the fluid, sculptural shell and the architectural, technical base creates a striking contrast that has defined this design for over seventy years.
