Product description
A set of two vintage stoneware mugs, manufactured by Goebel in West Germany. These pieces are characteristic of Merkelbach production with their traditional salt glaze and detailed, hand-applied decoration.
The mugs are made of high-quality stoneware and finished with a 'Salzglasur' or salt glaze, a technique that results in a durable and lightly structured surface. The palette consists of a deep cobalt blue and earthy brown tones, which form a striking contrast with the light grey interior. The decorative pattern shows a stylized, curling leaf motif, framed by a scalloped edge.
These mugs are in excellent vintage condition, testifying to careful preservation over the years. The markings on the underside, 'Merkelbach Goebel W. Germany Salzglasur', confirm their authenticity and date their production to the post-war period. The glaze is clear and the colors have remained vibrant.
