About this seller
Private sellerProduct description
A set of two antique fire dogs, made from robust wrought iron. This pair is not only functional for supporting logs in a fireplace but also holds decorative and historical value due to its rustic design.
The fire dogs are hand-forged and show the characteristics of traditional craftsmanship. Each piece has a vertical stand topped with a hammered sphere and is equipped with multiple spit holders, indicating their original function for preparing food over the fire. The construction is solid, and the dark, almost black color of the iron gives an authentic appearance.
The overall condition is good, with a patina consistent with age and use in a fireplace. The present rust and signs of wear contribute to the character and historical charm of the objects, without affecting their structural integrity.
These fire dogs are a characterful addition to an interior with a classic, rural, or rustic style. They enhance the atmosphere of any fireplace, both in use and as a purely Decorative Object.
