Product description
Capodimonte ceramic vase, made in 1800. Diameter 13 cm, height 30 cm. Capodimonte porcelain owes its name to the eponymous hilly area of Naples. There, in the first half of the 18th century, King Charles of Bourbon and his wife founded the Royal Capodimonte Factory. The porcelain produced in this area has peculiar characteristics that distinguish it from Northern European porcelain, such as its particular milky color, greater compactness, and transparency, which are due to the absence of kaolin in the paste. The soft paste is shaped using finely sculpted plaster molds into which the liquid porcelain is poured, resulting in the raw object which is then subjected to a first long firing in a kiln. Once fired, it can be hand-painted and then fired again to set the color. The floral compositions are manually shaped by the artisan. Additional details: - Brand: Capodimonte - Period: 1800
