Pelletier began his career in the 1950s as a window decorator for Parisian department stores. He went on to work for a number of design houses, including the famous Cristalleries de Saint-Louis and Baccarat. In 1954, he set up his own company, Georges Pelletier Verrerie d'Art, where he produced unique pieces in hand-blown glass. He quickly gained international renown for his innovative designs, which won many prestigious awards, including the Médaille d'Or de la Ville de Paris in 1956 and the Grand Prix de l'Exposition Universelle de Bruxelles in 1958. Pelletier was known for his bold use of color and form in his creations, as well as for his technical mastery of glassmaking. He worked with such renowned clients as Coco Chanel, Queen Elizabeth II and U.S. President John F. Kennedy. Today, Georges Pelletier's pieces are highly sought-after by collectors and form part of the permanent collections of many art and design museums, including the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris and the Musée d'Art Moderne et Contemporain in Strasbourg.
