Gomme began his career in the furniture industry working for his father's company, E. Gomme Ltd. He gained solid experience in furniture design and manufacture before founding his own company. G Plan furniture was known for its modern style and quality craftsmanship. Gomme worked closely with designers such as R. Bennett and V. Wilkins to create elegant, functional furniture for British homes of the time.
