Kosta Boda

For those who love glass that makes a difference, Whoppah can come to the brand Kosta Boda. It's just glass, but at the same time, it's so much more. Kosta Boda has been working with glass for nearly 300 years, during which time they have developed a deep understanding and love for the material. Working with design, interiors, lifestyle and art, Kosta Boda strives to create products that are bold and progressive, yet easy and accessible.

Origin of Kosta Boda

Kosta Boda has its roots deep in the history of glass art. The story begins in 1742, when the Kosta glass factory was founded in the Swedish village of Kosta. This was the very first glass company in Sweden and marked the beginning of a glass-making tradition that has continued throughout the centuries. In 1742, Anders Koskull, a Swedish nobleman, joined forces with George Bogislaus Staël von Holstein, a Swiss businessman and pioneer in the glass industry, to establish the Kosta glass factory. This factory soon became known for its high-quality glassware and remained a major player in the world of glass art.

Kosta Boda vase

Kosta Boda vases and bowls are still crafted and designed by world-renowned glass artists. The Swedish glass blowers work only with pure crystal for this purpose. Thanks to the centuries-old glass tradition, Kosta Boda is able to create the most beautiful vases and bowls together with the master glassblowers. The vases and bowls of Kosta Boda are especially recognizable by the presence of beautiful colors and natural shapes. All Kosta Boda vases also feature engraving. Take a look at the blue vase from Kosta Boda's Contrast series, made of crystal glass. The Blue/amber vase from the Mirage series by Kosta Boda is also a gem among vases. Other examples include the Kosta Boda Open Minds, Kosta Boda Summer Breeze or the Kosta Boda Craquele vase.

Kosta Boda Tea Light Holder

For those who love candlelight in the home or around the house, Whoppah has come to the right place under the Kosta Boda brand. Kosta Boda crafts crystal glass tea light holders and candlesticks. Like the black tea light holder from the Brick series by Kosta Boda, made of crystal glass, looks like a stone, but with an ice effect in the glass. Another example is the Kosta Boda SNOWBALL, which was designed by Ann Wärff in 1973. Since then, these SNOWBALL tea lights have become a classic. Particularly beautiful ambient light due to the glass structure. Really lives up to its name.

Kosta Boda glasses and carafes

The Kosta Boda brand is known worldwide for its exceptional Art Glass products and these can be admired in several museums around the world. Consider also a huge selection of glasses and matching decanters. High quality, many shapes and sizes, handmade and mouth-blown, all can be found at Whoppah for an attractive price and excellent quality. The Kosta Boda Chateau series, Kosta Boda Line or Kosta Boda New Friends are some examples.

Innovation and sustainability

Kosta Boda has always been committed to innovation and sustainability in the glass industry. They have constantly experimented with new techniques and materials to push boundaries and explore new art forms. Moreover, the company places great importance on eco-friendly production methods and reducing their carbon footprint.
