Antique Church Statues Riemenschneider Style Handcrafted Mary and Moses
Statues and Woodcarvings
Pair of late Gothic wooden statues, Riemenschneider style, Germany.
Very beautiful polychrome wooden statues, approximately 130 cm high, depicting a male saint – Moses – with staff and scroll,
and a female figure with crown, Mary with Child, approximately 110 cm high.
Both statues feature original polychromy and gilding.
The Mary statue contains all its original parts (arm, crown fragments), which can be expertly restored. An excellent example of South German ecclesiastical woodcarving in the style of Tilman Riemenschneider.
Suitable for a museum collection or the discerning collector.
