Product description
An Art Deco sculpture carved in solid wood by Danish artist Jens Jacob Bregnø, dating from the 1900s. The piece bears the carved monogram "JB" signed on the back of the hat. Documented as the artist's only known work executed in wood, the piece depicts a female figure in a dynamic, wide-stance pose holding a hat behind her head. The design reflects structural and aesthetic influences from the Danish Skønvirke movement. The face is executed with stylized, defined features and a serene expression, detailed with rendered hair and facial contours. The skirt utilizes two alternating contrasting wood tones to form a geometric sunburst or fan pattern. Mounted on a rectangular wooden base.
