Set of seven Italian Cesca chairs, designed by Marcel Breuer. The chairs date from the late 1980s/early 1990s.
Five of the chairs are marked "made in Italy" and 2 are not. These also have a slightly different color and seat.
The Cesca chair is a remarkable piece of design history. Designed by Marcel Breuer in 1928 and named after his daughter Francesca (“Cesca”), this chair combines craftsmanship and industrial materials in an innovative way.
What makes it so iconic is that clever mix: the curved steel tubular frame — inspired by the rise of modernist technology — combined with natural materials such as rattan (cane) and wood. That contrast gives the chair both a light, almost floating appearance and a warm, accessible feel.
