Set of lounge chairs designed by Florence Knoll ( Mid Century Modern ) “Model 31”
The chairs are characterized by a simplicity of lines and are composed of a black base and equipped with a seat and backrest with the original, typical 1960s upholstery.
("LANA" red/orange textile)
This timeless design can be seen in numerous collections and design museums, including the Brooklyn Museum in New York and the Vitra Design Museum in Weil am Rhein.
"Model 31" can be found on page 76 of the book " Knoll Furniture" - 2nd Edition with Updated Price Guide published by Schiffer Publishing Ltd. and edited by Steve and Linda Rouland (1999 - 2005). ( see pictures )

About the designer:
Florence Margerite Knoll-Bassett was an American architect, interior and furniture designer who revolutionized interior design from the post-war period to the present.
Her work was groundbreaking and reflects the perfect balance between functionality and elegance.
As the protagonist of Modernisme , her designs and furniture remain trend-setting to this day.
In addition, she gave young designers such as Harry Bertoia, Walter Platner and Eero Saarinen the opportunity to commercialize their creations.
Florence Knoll was 102 years old, died in 2019 and left behind a spectrum of innovative and refreshing ideas.
