Designed by sculptor Harry Bertoia in 1952, the Diamond Chair is one of the purest expressions of mid-century modern design: a chair that feels more like a drawing in space than a piece of furniture. Bertoia famously described his wire chairs as being “made mostly of air” — and this piece captures that idea perfectly.
This original vintage example from the 1970s (produced by Knoll) features a black finish and the small Diamond Chair format, prized for its refined proportions. Offered without cushion, the chair reveals the purity of Bertoia’s original design intent.
The chair is in very good vintage condition, with a well-preserved structure and finish, showing light signs of age consistent with careful use.
