Beautiful large color etching by the well-known Dutch artist Marcel Schellekens (1954, Soerendonk). It depicts an everyday still life of a Biedermeier chair with coats draped over it and a bunch of lilies in packaging. Recognizable scene of visitors who feel at home, such as children living away from home... A nostalgic and romantic atmosphere is recognizable everywhere at Schellekens. He shows that simple things can be beautiful. The viewer is touched by the charm of everyday subjects and the atmosphere and warmth that the works of art radiate give the viewer a familiar and recognizable feeling. The work is professionally framed with passe-partout in a solid wood (whitewash) BARTH frame. Dim. image/etching plate: 49 x 64 cm (passe-partout: 51 x 67 cm) Year: 1991 Edition: 13 of 50 Signed by hand in pencil lower right. The whole is in excellent condition and can be hung on the wall! The works of Marcel Schellekens are characterized by the special incidence of light and the atmosphere that the works radiate. Marcel finds inspiration close to home in the daily things, people and animals around him. He only depicts the reality of life and thus draws attention to the beauty of everyday reality. Marcel likes to paint round, soft and romantic shapes that create the atmosphere in his work. He invites the viewer to reminisce about the recognizable and atmospheric works. Schellekens knows how to capture unpretentious happiness and nostalgia in his work, making it warm and inviting. He has specialized in the etching technique and has developed his own working method over the years. He works with 3 different etching plates for the basic colors red, yellow and blue. By pressing them on top of each other, a rich range of color shades is created. The result of this particularly laborious technique is picturesque. Schellekens knows like no other how to capture the light in his works of art and to create atmosphere through the right combination of warm colors and light. This has produced a large number of characteristic graphs. Marcel Schellekens lives and works in Bergen (NH) and was educated at the Academy of Visual Arts in Utrecht in the graphics department. In 1994 he received the Public Prize for Graphics Now. He had exhibitions in New York, Vancouver, Tokyo, Edinburgh, Vienna and in the Netherlands, among others. more information about Marcel Schellekens and his work: www.marcelschellekens.nl
