Late 20th century polychrome glass mask sculpture by Hans Janssen. The colored glass sculpture of a mask with an ornament. Hans Janssen (Groesbeek, 1952) is a Dutch artist and ceramist who works from his studio in Malden in the Netherlands. Hans comes from a family of potters. With this background, he feels the need to also learn about glazing and glass processing. He studies plastic design at the Academy for Visual Education in Amersfoort. He combines his knowledge of pottery and glazes with creations of glass and ceramics. He experiments a lot with stained glass and melting glass together. After his education he follows in the footsteps of his family and opens pottery painting company “De Penguin”, where he makes decorations inspired by Theodoor Colenbrander and hand-formed art nouveau pottery. Janssen adds more and more techniques to his work and develops as a visual artist who combines his crafts into his own style. Janssen’s sculptures are created using a combination of techniques, including fusing and slumping, in which glass is melted together in or over a mold of clay or steel. Another commonly used material is stoneware (cast stone). Hans Janssen’s works are figurative, often with a combination of human and animal anatomy, and act as a mouthpiece for the maker. Janssen has his studio and gallery in Malden.Goede conditie passend bij leeftijd object.
