Artist Profile: Anthony Brandt (1925 - 2009)
Born in 1925, Anthony Brandt, apart from the war years, spent most of his early life in London. In 1956, his life changed forever when he met Mitzi, a highly sought-after artist model and ballerina. At the time, she was modeling and dating the famous artist Sir William Russell Flint, but immediately fell in love with Anthony Brandt. A year later they lived together, and on the thirtieth anniversary of their first meeting, they got married.
Mitzi inspired Brandt's lifelong obsession with the human figure, and she was the subject of many of his paintings and drawings. In 1975 they bought an old derelict chapel in the middle of the scenic Brecon Beacons in Wales. Brandt converted part of the building into a studio and he lived and worked there until his death in 2009 with Mitzi.Very good. Only light scratches in frame
