Serigraph of Geronimo from the Cowboys & Indians series by Andy Warhol. Geronimo was an Apache Indian leader and was also known as a rebel. He managed to escape from the San Carlos reservation several times, but was captured each time. In 1986 Andy Warhol created the Cowboys and Indians portfolio. In this portfolio, Warhol shows the popular version of American Western history. Putting icons like General Custer, Annie Oakley, and Geronimo into one portfolio, these ten serigraphs by Andy Warhol aim to expose the controversies surrounding America's perception of cowboys and Native Americans. Published by Gaultney-Klineman Art INC. New York The work is not signed or numbered, but has the Gaultney-Klineman stamp on the back. These "printer proofs" were a reference for the actual printing, and were used for exhibitions and promotion of the series. This screen print was issued in addition to the edition of 250 pieces. Neatly framed behind plexiglass in a wooden frame of 97 x 97 cm. Literature : (FS II.384)
