At the age of 27, Kalff wrote a letter to Anton Philips, the president of Philips & Co., in which he believed that the company's advertising could be improved. Shortly after he was hired and a year later, he was put in charge of the commercial and artistic propaganda departments. With his designs for posters and packaging, Kalff rapidly modernized the image of Philips. Five years later he started a new lighting consultancy department and became responsible for the lighting of the world exhibitions in Barcelona, (and later also Antwerp, Brussels and Paris). In addition to the Philips logo, he also designed other well-known advertising posters (Calvé, PTT, Holland Radio, …), book covers, desk lamps and even some buildings. After the Second World War he became art director at Philips and worked with Le Corbusier and the composer Edgar Varèse. After his retirement from 1960, he remained active as a consultant for Philips and was involved in the execution of the Evoluon building in Eindhoven. The shape of this building can be found in many of the lamps he designed. Louis Kalff passed away in 1976 Very stylish & rare vintage design wall lighting that looks good in any interior.
