From 1986 to 1991, Bremer took an evening course at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague. She lives and works in Kudelstaart and in Begnins (Switzerland). Although painting was her passion from an early age, Saskia Bremer chose to follow a teacher's training and then work as an art teacher at various schools. In addition, however, she soon started taking an art course in the evenings. After a difficult time at the academy, Bremer soon found her own style: bright colours, work that lies between figuration and abstraction. From 1994 Bremer started teaching less and since 1996 she has focused entirely on her own art. Sometimes she has trouble making her art, but she succeeds every time by just doing it; at some point the inspiration returns. The use of acrylic paint makes Bremer's spontaneous way of working possible. Exhibitions: Saskia Bremer's work has been exhibited in leading galleries in England, the Netherlands, Israel, Portugal, Greece, Germany and Switzerland, among others. Saskia about her work: "My work is created without a preconceived plan. When I'm working on such a day, there comes a moment when I say: enough is enough. Then I spread the paint that is left on a piece of cardboard and put it on the floor You can sometimes be busy for days on end and then it won't work out. You then think: It's all boring, it's no good. But the next day you go back to work. The pieces of colorful cardboard pile up. Sometimes you see suddenly something, then it hit the mark. That's how it goes with me. Inspiration comes from going to work. Just start, every day anew." More info about Saskia Bremer and her current work: www.rkd.nl/nl/explore/artists/12341
