With swift strokes and translucent colors, Antonio Suárez depicts a jug of flowers in this still life. Despite being a traditional subject, this artist revisits it with a highly modern approach in the combination of colors and textures. This work demonstrates the artist's concern with chromatic rhythms, which convey a delicate lyricism, which constitutes the core of his reflection. Signed lower left. Antonio Suárez is a well-known Asturian painter with a long and distinguished career. He was one of the founders of the "El Paso" group in 1975, a collective that revitalized the Spanish art scene and which also included Antonio Saura and Rafael Canogar, among others. His work is included in the collections of the Museum of Fine Arts of Asturias, the Reina Sofía Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Art of Barcelona, the University of Oviedo, the Museum of Abstract Art in Cuenca, and several art galleries in Seville, San Francisco, Bilbao, Leverkusen, and Austin (USA). An intuitive painter, he is always reluctant to undertake any kind of preparatory study or sketch for his paintings.
