Product description
An incredible totem composed of three glazed ceramic bodies, alternating between maroon and black. Inspired by the Memphis style, typical of Italy in the 70s and 80s. It features the brand's Rometti Italy seal at the bottom. About the Memphis style The Memphis style, originating in Italy, is a timeless classic. It reached its peak in the 80s, with its patterns and mixes of prints and bright, vibrant colors. The greatest exponent of this trend was the designer and architect Ettore Sottsass. The key to the Memphis style is to break with classicism, harmony, and all kinds of traditional aesthetic rules. It proposes a color combination in which anything goes. In fact, the more disparate and asymmetrical the result, the better. Creativity above all. Black is present, but always relegated to marking the lines and contours of the figures that are filled with color. It is inspired by the geometric shapes typical of Art Deco, Pop Art, and Kitch. This trend has resurfaced in recent years. For many, more than just a decorative style, it's a way of life. The phrase "a table may need four legs to function, but no one says all four have to be the same" best defines this philosophy. Ceramiche Rometti Italy Ceramiche Rometti was founded in 1927 in Umbertide, the brainchild of expert ceramist Settimio Rometti, assisted by his grandchildren. The avant-garde climate of the early 20th century was the ideal moment to bring his dream of industrial production dominated by art and craftsmanship to life. Artists freed themselves from intellectual restrictions and limitations to experiment with form, dedicating themselves to creating sculpted figures, vases, lamps, and so on, all limited-edition pieces whose essence was uniqueness. To create them, they used a particular clay obtained from quarries bathed by the Tiber. The brand is characterized by an eclectic and timeless style of genuine artistic pieces, and its decorations are the reason why its pieces are so coveted by collectors around the world. Over the decades, Rometti has remained an important point of reference, thanks to various collaborations with major designers and brands, such as Cartier and Roche Bobois, and numerous awards, including the gold medal at the Nice International Exhibition and the Milan Triennale.
