Product description
For sale is a small, colorful solifleur or bottle vase by DeSimone, presumably from the second half of the 20th century. The hand-painted vase features a stylized rooster or bird on the front and a floral design on the back. The vibrant colors, simplified forms, and freely drawn contours are reminiscent of the visual language of Picasso, Matisse, and Paul Klee. DeSimone combines modernist influences with Mediterranean and Sicilian folk art. This is a stylistic classification and not a work by any of the aforementioned artists. • Dimensions: Height: approx. 12 cm, Diameter: approx. 4.3 cm • Material: Multicolored, glazed, and hand-painted ceramic • Special feature: Signed or marked "DESIMONE 001" by hand on the bottom. • Condition: Very good vintage condition commensurate with its age. No cracks are present. Upon careful visual inspection, no clear chips or cracks are visible. Minor irregularities due to the craftsmanship or glazing process, common in handmade ceramics, may be present at the rim. Minimal marks from standing on the base are possible.
