This extraordinary vase lamp combines striking mid-century ceramic with a bold, graphic textile, making it a true statement piece. The lamp base is an original Marei vase, whose distinctive shape with two side handles immediately catches the eye. The glaze displays a captivating contrast between the deep blue of the glaze and the light gray of the natural, yet polished, ceramic – typical of the expressive gradient glazes of the West German Pottery era of the 1960s and 70s. The Marei manufactory produced some of the most exceptional glazes.
The cylindrical lampshade is covered with a high-quality Japanese cotton fabric. The intricate dragon motif in various shades of blue and natural tones is reminiscent of traditional Japanese woodblock prints. The result is an atmospheric light with crisp detail.
