An extraordinary sideboard or credenza in walnut veneer with faceted chrome-plated steel legs, a mid-century design following George Nelson (1908-1986), design director at Herman Muller for over 25 years. He was one of the most influential figures in mid-century American modern design, not only creating iconic pieces but also recruiting legendary talents such as Charles and Ray Eames and Isamu Noguchi. For many years, Nelson studied and identified the most common storage problems people faced in their homes and offices. He designed new types of furniture, focusing on modular storage solutions. In 1958, using high-quality, thin wood veneers, he created a sideboard, the "Thin Edge" series, with slim edges framing the doors and drawers, creating a unique aesthetic.
This sideboard is made of walnut veneer, and each of the two modules rests on four faceted legs of cast and polished aluminum. Its front compartment consists of two hinged doors and three drawers. The solid aluminum handles, with their sculptural and minimalist design, perfectly complement the piece's aesthetic.
