Magnificent and elegant silver-plate serving shovel, dated circa 1900. It features a fluted, bulbous handle that supports the shovel blade, with a curvilinear, organic, and wavy design reminiscent of the fluid, natural lines of the Art Nouveau style, very popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The transition between the blade and the handle is decorated with a shell. The blade features a delicate hand-engraving depicting a fisherman on a riverbank, his catch hanging from his rod, surrounded by lush vegetation.
