Here we have a very charming early 20th-century oil painting on canvas by Dutch artist Pieter Cornelis Steenhouwer (1896-1972). The artwork shows a Dutch town with a canal through it. A ship stands at the lock ready to operate the locks while other figures go about their day. The painting is signed in the lower right corner, which is somewhat obscured by the frame. A delightful and colorful painting that would grace any wall in your home.

Pieter Cornelis Steenhouwer was a Dutch painter, born in Rotterdam, lived in Amsterdam and also trained at the Royal Academy in Amsterdam.
