This vase is made of Murano glass and finished using the scavo technique.
It looks like an archaeological find, but it is true craftsmanship. The scavo technique has something magical about it; it feels like you have unearthed a treasure from a sunken Roman city.
The term ‘scavo’ comes from Italian and literally means “excavation.” In the 1950s, this technique became popular on the famous glass island of Murano. Glassmakers sought a way to replicate the unique weathered look of antique glass from archaeological finds.
The result is this beautiful combination of history and modern design.
