Original Joe Colombo “Boby” Rolling Container – Bieffeplast – Vintage Design Classic 70s/80s
Description:
Here is your chance to acquire an absolute milestone in design history: the legendary “Boby” rolling container, designed by design icon Joe Colombo in 1970.
This is a genuine, rare vintage original from the highly sought-after first production run by the Italian manufacturer Bieffeplast (Padua, Italy) from the late 1970s/1980s – recognizable by the distinctive embossing on the underside and the characteristic embossed facsimile signature of Joe Colombo on the lower compartment (see detailed photos). The iconic design is so significant that it has even been included in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York!
This is a genuine, rare vintage original from the sought-after first production run by the Italian manufacturer Bieffeplast (Padua, Italy) from the late 1970s/1980s – recognizable by the distinctive embossing on the underside and the characteristic embossed facsimile signature of Joe Colombo on the lower compartment. Details & Condition:
Authentic Patina: Over the decades, the color of the ABS plastic on the exterior front has naturally darkened, developing a beautiful, charming cream tone (not a dull yellowing, but a refined, authentic vintage patina).
Flawless Function: The cabinet functions perfectly. The elegant, fan-like drawers open and close smoothly, and the casters also move with absolute ease.
Special Feature: Inside the top drawer, there is a small, purely superficial structural imperfection in the plastic (see photo). This is expressly not a crack or damage, but merely a minimal irregularity in the material that does not affect stability or use in any way.
No Damage: Otherwise, the piece of furniture is in excellent vintage condition – no breaks, no deep dents, or major damage.

Note: The container is often mistakenly called "Fatboy," but its official name is Boby, and it was manufactured by Bieffeplast before production was later transferred to B-Line. It is therefore the original, first-production model.
