For over 70 years, this bust in Limoges porcelain cookie has been a creation of the workshops of Camille Tharaud (1878-1956), a renowned artist among the Limoges master ceramists of the first part of the 20th century, for his dreamy blue enamels and works inspired by neo-classicism & the Empire.
This bust is a matte white porcelain cookie version on a kiln-blue ceramic pedestal of the child Alexandre Brongniart, an emblematic work by Jean Houdon, an artist-sculptor (1741-1828) renowned for his busts that are more alive than alive, notably with the "jeu du renvoi de regard" of which he became a master.
