Charcoal drawing on paper "Forest", Joan Granados Llimona, 1977 - Spain. Exquisite charcoal drawing on paper depicting a forest landscape. Made by Joan Granados Llimona, the grandson of the musician Enrique Granados and the painter Joan Llimona. Signed in the upper right corner and dated the year it was created, 1977. This work moves between realism and abstraction. A juxtaposition of forms is appreciated, but the composition remains faithful to the literal representation. It is a forest made from geometric shapes, where light and shadow contrast greatly. Joan Granados Llimona was born in Barcelona in 1931 and trained at the Llotja de Barcelona and the School of Fine Arts in Olot. His curiosity led him to explore the world, focusing especially on landscapes and their people, and studying human anatomy. His work as a draftsman brought together diverse techniques and specialties, such as poster design, book illustration, murals, covers, and Christmas cards, as well as the cultivation of drawing as an end in itself. As an autonomous work of art, with its infinite potential for qualities, resources of lines or stains, expressive distortions, spells, and arabesques, he reveals himself as a true master, subjecting them to a vision of humanity and the world that is no less personal for being eclectic and varied. His works have been presented at auctions, most in the "Watercolor Drawing" category. He has won numerous medals and drawing prizes, especially in Girona and its surrounding areas. He was a finalist in one of the Ynglada Guillot editions, and his work was acquired for the Barcelona Museum of Modern Art. His work has been exhibited in Hamburg, Barcelona, Valencia, Girona, Figueres, Olot, Vic, Vidreres, Banyoles, Lleida, Calella, Palafrugell, Llafranc, and more.
