This striking coat rack is a fine example of Bauhaus-influenced Czech design, attributed to the renowned manufacturer Hynek Gottwald and dating to the 1940s. Gottwald's workshop was celebrated for its pioneering use of chrome-plated tubular steel, a hallmark of the Bauhaus movement's embrace of industrial materials in everyday objects. Standing at an impressive 184 cm tall with a compact 50 x 50 cm footprint, this coat rack combines a sculptural, minimalist silhouette with genuine functionality, making it a striking statement piece for an entryway, hallway, or bedroom corner.
Condition & Character
Original condition with heavy signs of use, including one large scratch on the body. The chrome surfaces show heavy, age-appropriate wear consistent with decades of use, and there is one noticeable larger scratch on the body of the rack.
