This set, comprising the Barcelona chair and its matching ottoman, is an iconic creation by architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, produced by Knoll Studio. Originally designed for the German Pavilion at the 1929 Barcelona International Exposition, this sculptural silhouette remains a benchmark of modernist design.
Produced in the early 2000s, this authentic edition is distinguished by its mirror-polished chrome-plated flat steel frame, engraved with the designer's signature and the manufacturer's logo. The upholstery is made of black Volo full-grain leather, a material chosen for its suppleness and durability. The tufted cushions rest on original leather webbing, ensuring optimal tension and a firm, architectural structure. The chair measures 77 centimeters high by 75 centimeters wide, with a seat height of 45 centimeters.
The set is in excellent condition, reflecting careful use over the years. The leather has developed a natural, even patina that enhances its character, while the chrome frame retains its original luster. The structural and aesthetic integrity of this certified edition is fully preserved. Two minor scratches from use are present on the Ottoman.
