Postma studied Graphic Design at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague in the late 1980s. After a year and a half in India for various visual arts internships, he settled in The Hague again and opened his studio in the Boekhorststraat. In the nineties and the first decade of the twenty-first century, Postma regularly had successful exhibitions of paintings in various Dutch galleries. He has not exhibited in recent years. Postma is also a teacher of Visual Arts and Art History at the V.O. His work is difficult to classify, it is often magically realistic in atmosphere with many allegorical references. His work speaks of melancholy and poetry. Postma paints in a figurative style, yet his work is also very expressive, especially because of his use of color.
