The Thonet Chair No. 14 – also known today as Model 214 – is considered one of the most successful chairs of all time. This masterpiece of bentwood design established Thonet’s worldwide fame and became a true symbol of Viennese coffee house culture.
According to Wikipedia, it is the most-produced piece of seating furniture in the world and ranks among the most successful industrial products ever made. By 1930, more than 50 million pieces had already been sold. It embodies all the advantages of the revolutionary bentwood technique: timeless elegance, functionality, efficient use of materials, affordability, and outstanding durability.
This particular chair was produced in the early 20th century, with its design dating back to the late 19th century.
