Beautiful Ahrend chair designed in the 1950s by Friso Kramer. The chair itself comes from the 1960s and is one of the first versions of the revolt. A real Dutch Design Style classic.
Friso Kramer was a Dutch industrial designer and architect, born on April 24, 1922 in Amsterdam and died on February 17, 2019.
He is considered one of the most important Dutch designers of the 20th century. His work was heavily influenced by the principles of modernism and the functionalist design movement. He strived to create simple, practical and purposeful designs that were affordable for a wide audience.
One of his most famous works is the "Revolt chair", which he designed in 1953 together with Wim Rietveld for the Dutch manufacturer Ahrend. The chair was revolutionary for its lightweight and stackable design, which was an innovation at the time. The Revolt chair became an iconic example of post-war Dutch design.
Kramer also collaborated with other well-known designers and architects, such as Gerrit Rietveld and Hein Stolle. He has contributed to the design of several projects, including furniture, industrial design and exhibition design.
