World of Word – Original Textile Artwork by V. Ninua
World of Word explores the power of language and the idea that words can shape our thoughts, perception and reality. Inspired by the concept “In the beginning was the Word,” the composition presents a fragmented visual world in which forms, figures and symbols emerge and interact.
This is a unique, one-of-a-kind original artwork created using V. Ninua’s self-developed textile technique. The composition is first developed on canvas and then constructed entirely by hand using braided jute rope and different textile fibres and threads.
Each element is individually shaped, layered and carefully applied to the canvas. Variations in the direction, density and structure of the fibres create depth, movement and a richly tactile, almost sculptural surface. Because of its physical texture, the artwork changes subtly depending on the light and viewing angle, an effect that cannot be fully captured in photographs.
