Product description
Manufacturer: WMF (Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik) Model/Design: Series 2500 (Classic Bauhaus/Art Deco Design) Design: Atelier Kurt Mayer (circa 1930) Material: High-quality silver-plated (90 silver plating/WMF patent) Special Feature: High-quality knife blades from Zwilling Solingen with a special "Friodur" ice-hardening edge! For sale is a true design classic from the Bauhaus era: a 30-piece cutlery set from WMF's iconic Series 2500. The timeless, clean-lined Art Deco design originates from the renowned Atelier Kurt Mayer. The spoons and forks bear the original, deep WMF hallmarks, including the traditional gram weights for the high-quality silver plating: [45] on the tablespoons [30] on the dinner forks [18] on the dessert forks and dessert spoons A special highlight for collectors of this set: The knife blades feature the rare "WMF Friodur" hallmark with the Zwilling logo (the two men). These special blades were ice-hardened at Zwilling's traditional factory in Solingen, making them extremely durable, flexible, and sharp. A rare and, at the time, very expensive collaboration between two traditional German brands! The set is designed for 6 people and includes: 6 dinner forks 6 dinner knives (with Zwilling Friodur blades) 6 tablespoons (soup spoons) 6 dessert forks (cake forks) 6 dessert spoons (coffee spoons) Includes the elegant red cutlery box shown (velvet inlay) Condition & Patina: The cutlery is in good, used condition. As can be clearly seen in the pictures, the silver-plated pieces have developed a typical silver patina (they have a characteristic tarnish). This is a completely normal, natural process for genuine silver cutlery and not a defect. For those who don't like the matte vintage look: The patina can easily be completely removed with a standard silver dip or silver polishing cloth, restoring the set to a mirror-like shine. The set can be fully polished in a silver bath (without chemicals or polish) before shipping upon request – or it can be left in its charming vintage condition. Here are the lengths again: Knives: approx. 20.3 cm Large forks: approx. 18.3 cm Large spoons (dinner spoons): approx. 20.5 cm Cake forks: approx. 15.5 cm Coffee spoons: approx. 13.5 cm Shipping: The set will be shipped well-padded and securely packaged as an insured parcel with tracking. Private sale: The sale is final and excludes any liability for defects, warranty, or returns.
