Beautiful Danish mouth-blown pendant lamp, designed by Michael Bang. He was the son of Jacob Eiler Bang, Holmegaard's first permanent designer and one of the founders of functionalism in Danish glassware.
Holmegaard had been making glass for lighting since the nineteenth century, but it was Michael Bang who ushered in an entire era of glass design lamps starting in 1970.
He designed the Etude in 1978. This lamp bears the label of Royal Copenhagen, with which Holmegaard merged in 1985. The lamp belongs to the musical series Etude, Kantate, and Sonate: robust glass shades in distinctive shapes. The Etude appeared in multiple colors and sizes.
This lamp is in beautiful condition, without chips or cracks in the glass. A beautiful piece of Danish design history that deserves a place in someone's home.
